click a star to voteOct 16th, 2014 10:43pmreportMy absolute favorite Slipknot song. It is a masterpiece. My interest is more in the logic of the lyrics. I understand the general inspiration for the song was the crimescene.com story, but I'm wondering who is saying each lyric. For example, it is obvious it is Purity speaking when the verses are spoken ('. . . I think I'm slowly dying.'). But what is the logic behind the phrase 'You all stare, but you'll never see there's something inside me.'? Who is saying this, and who is 'you all'? Is this the killer speaking? What is the context of this part?

click a star to voteNov 20th, 2012 11:52pmreportThe song Purity was written when Corey came across a website located at http://www.crimescene.com/purity/index.html. Adrianne Purity Knight was a 20 year old college student who was stalked by an obsessed ex-lover. Eventually, this man ended up burying young Purity in a homemade wooden box alive. She died. Shawn: It's like this - whether it's real or not, it affected Corey very much, the thought of it - so it was able to influence him - the song is not directly one hundred percent about it.
Corey: I still think its real - see the thing whether it's true or not, it's a real story - that we read about - that fucked our whole world up - can you imagine a girl being buried in a box and having all this lecherous bullshit drip down on her from this guy? And thinking that there is hope, because this kid is taking some bizarre note to this guy he doesn't even know - thinking that you are holding on to the shirt of hope - and you wake up and you're dead you're buried in mud - they find the note about a week later shoved in a library book for gods sakes - it just hurts your head - it's a case of what is good and bad in people - the box alone is reason enough to be like, 'I cant stand to be fucking human' - how can someone fucking do this to somebody? What is inside of us that is so fucking wrong?
He had written quotes from Edgar Allen Poe and lots of fucked up things on the boxanonymous

Like, when he says 'homemade cellar', as well as 'buried kennel', that sounds a lot like the shell mentioned in the chorus. Just saying. I know it's about the story of Purity Knight, but it also sounds like it could be a sequel to 'Wait and Bleed'.

click a star to voteFeb 21st, 2011 2:02amreportWith all the things about purity knight, im pretty sure my idea is incorrect, but i thought it was about a person having to remain perfict. There were 'handsonmyfaceoverbearingicantgetout!' and its not the real you. 'you all stare but you'll never see, theirs something inside me'. You have to be perfict for someone, a parent, a teacher, friend, whatever. You have to keep your purity.
Thats just what i though, i know its wrong, its just my idea of what it means.anonymous

The case was not real. She was killed by her ex-boyfriend, who also stalked her.
The collection to the old movie the Collector is non-existent in this song, however, another song off the album, Prosthetics, was based on the movie.
Being a fake case, the audio recordings used in 'Frail Limb Nursery' were actually created by Crimescene.com, and therefore had copyright active on them, resulting in both songs (FLN and Purity) being yanked from the album.DarknessRend

Just think how fucked up that shit is that girl must have been so fucking scared. Plus as the little 9 yr. old boy showed up and nobody came to save her.

yall should check it out. In my opinion what happened is so messed up by how another person would do something like that to somebody else. but the song is about the purity case that Corey stumbled upon somehow and his band mates told interviewers that when he read the case file that it just inspired him so much and made him wonder what inside us just went wrong to allow ourselves to do something that terrible to somebody. but that may not be true I mean it could mean something entirely different than what I just said.anonymous

HOWEVER there was a disclaimer on www.crimescene.com (not sure if this is there anymore) but it said that all the cases and interviews and everything aren't real, that they are made up stories of fiction... either way, its an amazing song, by an amazing band, written by an amazing vocalist/songwriter
